Estimate Your Uber Fare

The fare you'll owe from the car service Uber will depend on various different factors such as city, distance, and type of car. If the pickup location is busy, you may also be affected by surge pricing. In some cities and with some ride types, you may get an exact upfront price when you request your car. Otherwise, you'll be able to see fare estimates.

Steps

Using the Uber App

  1. Tap the Uber app. Log in if you aren't logged in automatically.
  2. Tap "Where to?"
  3. Enter your destination.
  4. Tap the "Current Location" button.
  5. Drag the pin to your desired pickup location. If your current location is experiencing surge pricing, you may want to try changing your pickup location.
  6. Swipe left and right to see the available ride options.
  7. View the upfront fare or fare estimate below the ride type. In some cities, you'll see the exact fare you'll pay if you request a ride. In other areas, you'll see a fare estimate range that will give you an idea of what the total will be.[1]

Estimating Fares

  1. Type uber.com/cities in your browser. You can do this on your computer or from your mobile browser.
  2. Click the city that you want to check fares for.
  3. Enter your pickup and destination locations.
  4. View the fare estimates for the different ride types.
  5. Click the "?" button next to the fare estimate to view details. This will tell you how the fare is calculated for that vehicle type in the city you selected.
    • Fares and fees differ from city to city.
    • Nearly all cities will have a minimum fare amount.
  6. Keep surge pricing in mind. The fare estimate will not account for any surge pricing that may be in effect at your pickup location.

Tips

  • Since it is not possible to book ahead of time, it is not possible to find out what an exact future fare will be. Fares vary depending on the traffic and if any surge pricing is in effect for your pickup location.
