Fake an Injury to Get out of Gym Class
Do you hate having to run top speed laps in your 1-hour gym class? Do you want to finally get a break from gruelling sports that are so tiring you feel like passing out? You have come to the right place. This article will explain some methods you can use to avoid gym class by faking an injury.

Hurt ankle
- Get an ace bandage without your parents knowing. You don't have to spend up to $10 for a stupid bandage at Walmart, just buy a good, sturdy $2 one at the Pharmacy.
- Get a pair of flats or flip-flops to wear on the day that you want to be "hurt". It would look strange and suspicious if you wore neon sneakers with a big ace bandage around your leg.
- Wrap the bandage around your ankle a few times, then wrap it around the base of your foot. (the part between the toes and your heel). Alternate until the bandage is too short to go any further. Tuck it in the top, pin it in place to hold it.
- Make up a good story for how the 'injury' happened. Make sure it's realistic, for example "I was riding my bike and fell off from hitting a big rock" is much more believable than "I was hit by a plane".
Hurt arm
- Get an ace bandage.
- Wrap it around your forearm and slowly move up to your wrist. Go over your fingers and back down to your wrist.
- Secure the bandage in place.
Twisted ankle
- When you go outside, fall a little bit and lean your foot sideways. This is so that anyone watching doesn't get suspicious. Don't actually hurt yourself.
- Limp around without using your fake-hurt foot. When recess is over, go to the nurse and ask for an ice pack.
- Go to class, keep the ice pack on, limp around, and when gym comes, say that you can't participate because you twisted your ankle.
Hurt shoulder
- Get a bandage.
- Wrap the bandage around your chest a couple of times. Girls, you can wear a bra while you do this unless you're actually hurt.
- Go up to your upper arm and keep going until you go over your shoulder and to your neck.
- Secure the bandage in place.
Hurt head
- Get an ice pack and put it in your locker.
- In the class before gym, pretend to fall and hit your head on a desk, floor, locker, or wall and grimace in pain. Pretend to cry if you don't mind the indignity.
- When you go to your locker, get the ice pack and press it to your head.
- When you get to the locker room, put on a realistic look of agony. If the coach asks you what's wrong, tell him/her you fell and hit your head. Ask if you can take it easy because it's really hurting you. Make your voice small and suffering. Jump at loud noises. Keep the look of pain.
Tips
- Work on your acting skills before you go through with this, although don't make it look like you've been practicing in a mirror. Try doing it at home first, so you don't mess up at a public place.
- Don't let anyone know except for a few close, trusted friends. Don't tell people who have friends you can't trust.
- Put a pebble in your sock at the bottom so you actually limp.
- If there may be a classmate who dobs you in when you're trying to get out of sport, you need to fake the injury all day, even after the class. Walk slowly. This will make it believable. If you run around, people will definitely know you're faking, so hold off on jumping around at recess or lunch. When you walk, put your hand on your back. People will ask you what's wrong if you stop walking to lean onto a pole or a wall. If they do you can say "My back really hurts!" putting one hand on your back and the other over your eyes.
Warnings
- Continue to fake your chosen injury for a few days. Others might be angry or get suspicious when you come to school the next day perfectly fine, so be careful!
- Teachers might send you to the nurse.
- There is always a chance that you will get caught. If this happens, you will probably never be able to pull this off again, or worse still you could be forced to do gym class when you are injured for real.
