Flirt in Middle School

Just because you're in middle school doesn't mean you can't have fun flirting. You know a guy has a crush on you if he constantly wants to sit next to you, or tries to mess with you so have fun flirting but remember flirting means different things to different people and some of these steps more about having fun social interactions with a boy than actually flirting.

Steps

  1. Remember to save the moves you use to show a boy you really like them just for the boy you want to like you. You should be kind and friendly to everyone of course so you'll need to make an extra effort with the boys you really want to like you, or maybe even consider to be boyfriend material.
  2. Always look clean and well presented: Shower, brush your hair or put it up, wear deodorant and clean clothes that look good on you and you feel comfortable in. If you choose, apply a subtle amount of make up, like a little mascara or a bit of eyeliner to bring attention to your eyes, and maybe just a bit of lip gloss. Generally, lipsticks or heavy eye-shadows are not very attractive on younger girls - just make sure whatever you put on is neat, evenly applied, and UN-smudged. Guys will always notice if you're wearing too much make up, or if it's messy or lopsided. Looking good isn't flirting though. To make your appearance part of your appeal to a boy, you need to make him think you have done it just for him, for example, pat your lips with a tissue before to speak to him. He'll think you just put that lipstick on for him, even if you aren't wearing any!
  3. Be confident when you interact with the boy you like: Confidence is like the magic word that makes every girl gorgeous. Try not to be negative about yourself all the time - and never do it in front of a guy, unless you know how to joke about it. Guys are uncomfortable around girls who go on and on about how fat and ugly they are, and don't like hanging out with them.
  4. Look at him when he talks to you: If you look at the ground, the walls, your friends, or another boy, he's not going to think you are interested- in fact he'll KNOW you're not interested, because you're too busy checking out the wall!!
  5. Greet him appropriately: If you've been talking for a while, don't be afraid to walk up to him just to say hey. It shows that you're confident and social, and that you're genuinely interested. If you're still just getting his attention and he doesn't really know you so well, simply smile if he looks at you when you pass in the hallway- take steps forward if you want, present yourself and be outgoing. The boy doesn't always have to make the first move.
  6. Don't try to be someone you're not, because guys always like the real girls better: Don't lie about what you've done, who you know, or who you are. This will just complicate things more, and things will be ruined if he ever finds out you're a fake.
  7. Don't refrain from starting conversations! Sometimes guys can be shy and if you start a conversation it will feel good to him knowing that you are interested.  If you always let him do the talking he may think your not interested and he's talking into a brick wall.
  8. Most importantly, have fun! This is middle school, you're not getting married. Flirting isn't a major commitment. And if he asks you out, great! If not, so what?

Tips

  • Let him see the real you. Be yourself.
  • Never be afraid to tell the truth! Boys don't like it when you lie.
  • Always have a good outlook on life when you are with a guy, but don't talk about your future together. You are just in middle school and it sounds a little creepy.
  • Don't tease him too much. He might get the impression you don't like him, even as a friend.
  • Smile, Smile, Smile! No one wants to hang out with someone who is always miserable. You don't have to grin like a Cheshire cat, just a small half smile will usually suffice. If you want him to know you like him, it has to be a flirty smile, otherwise you're just being friendly, not flirty.
  • Be nice to him, flirtatious.
  • Get interested in things he likes like football and have a sense of humor. Guys love to laugh!
  • Try to find out his interests and talk about it but don't act like you love everything he does it might make you look desperate.
  • Be yourself, and don't lie. If you try to be someone you're not, then he might get bad vibes. If you aren't into sports, be upfront and tell him that. Maybe he'll offer to teach you about the sport he plays (if he plays a sport).
  • Don't wear too much make-up. Its unattractive and won't let your crush see what your beautiful face looks like.
  • He doesn't have to be the one who asks you out, don't be afraid to be the one to ask him out! If he agrees, that's great! But if he denies, then that's okay.
  • If he says something funny, don't be afraid to full on snort! If you giggle it's flirtatious, but you're trying to giggle. If you laugh your normal laugh, maybe he won't be afraid to show his quirks too!
  • Make sure that you don't just talk about yourself, talk about him too!!
  • If he is nervous to talk to you, talk to him first. That'll help to break the ice and make him see that you are confident.

Warnings

  • Make sure you aren't all over him every minute. Spend time with your friends! Don't leave them out just because you like him, because that will make him feel uncomfortable. Even your friends will get uneasy if you spend too much time talking to him.
  • Don't be too pushy, or he will get creeped out and won't like you.
  • Be careful not to flirt with a guy who is taken. In middle school, this could lead to a lot of unnecessary drama that is best to avoid.
  • If he shrinks from you when you acknowledge him, and he tries to avoid talking to you don't chase him! Besides, if he was into you, then he'll realize he made a mistake and try to get you back.
  • Don't be too assertive. You may scare him away and look too mean. Just be yourself and have fun.
  • Make sure you're allowed to date before you (or he) asks you out! Secretly dating can lead to some big trouble, and your parents will eventually find out

Things You'll Need

  • Some nice clothes and if you have to wear uniform in school make sure there are no stains and make them look nice on you
  • A good personality
  • A gentle smile
  • A little bit of lip gloss wouldn't hurt (but not when alone with him in the same room)
  • Shower and always stay clean. Guys like girls better when they have good hygiene.
  • If you want to appeal to his senses a little bit, wear a little perfume.
