Get a Job Dealing Poker

Want to get a job dealing poker? Read on, and maybe you can make the dream into a reality.

Steps

  1. Get trained properly. Don't trust 'how to' videos from the internet. You should always volunteer to be the dealer when your friends play, for the extra practice.
  2. Find a respected dealer and learn from him one on one. Ask him how he made it into the profession, how long he has been working there, and if he enjoys it. It's always best to get lots of information before progressing into a field.
  3. Once you are proficient at running the game, start your job search. You could place advertisements or volunteer at small-time games before making your way up.
  4. Start at a casino that you will work at for six to nine months.
  5. Make all your "newbie" mistakes there.
  6. Then go to your target casino. At either joint, don't just fill out an application and wait.
  7. Be proactive and know who the hiring authority is.
  8. Fill out the application and then go and introduce yourself to the manager and tell them why you would be a good candidate for the job.
  9. When he or she is in need of a dealer and is going through the pile of apps, your name will jump out at them, having met you in person.
  10. Every two weeks, revisit them to let them know you are still on the market.
