Get a Job Raking Leaves
Have your parents ever made you rake your leaves? Well, you can carry that skill to the houses of your friends and neighbors to make a little extra cash!
Steps
- Get permission from your parents. Explain to them where you want to go and what you want to do. Get their advice on which neighbors to ask.
- Gather your supplies. You'll need a rake and a few garbage bags. You might also want some gloves to protect your hands.
- Get a piece of paper or notebook. This will help you keep a record of prices charged and houses you've asked and worked on.
- Go to a neighbor's house and ask to rake their leaves. Be polite and negotiate a price with them. Tell your parents which house you're going to.
- Do the job well! Doing good work will help you get references for future jobs.
- Ask the neighbors to recommend you to their friends. With their good reports, you may be able to expand your business to other friends and neighbors in the area.
Tips
- Try to keep your prices low as you are just starting out in the business. Once neighbors trust you to do a good job, you can ask for a raise.
Warnings
- Never give unnecessary information to a stranger.
