Get over Your Crush Who's a Jerk

A deep crush can become crushingly mortifying when the person turns out to be a jerk. Whether your crush ended up being a snob, a faker, a player or just plain mean, your sanity depends on getting over this person quickly.

Steps

Pushing your old crush off the pedestal

  1. Switch fantasy for flaws. If you're having trouble getting over this person because of their good looks, try to think of some of their other flaws. For example, think of a time when this person behaved in a mean way toward you or your friends. You can't get anywhere in life just by sitting there and looking pretty.

Relieving your feelings

  1. Write down your feelings. Let it all out on paper. You don't need to keep what you've written (unless you want to). The act of writing can help you to sort out your feelings and face facts about how wrong this person was for you.
  2. Think about other things. Plan a birthday party, think about visiting a cousin or getting a new pet. Find things to distract you from obsessing about this person and their behavior.
    • Take the dog for lots of walks. Use the time to enjoy nature and keeping fit.
  3. Don't think of yourself as a loser just because the person said they didn't like you or that you're too smart, too nice, etc.
  4. Try talking to a parent, sibling or a friend about what's happened. If it's a little too embarrassing to talk about it to your mom or dad, tell your older sister, your grandparent, or even your school guidance counselor

Getting this person out of your system

  1. Completely rid yourself of that person. Especially if it pains you to even think about them. They're not worth a quick thought.
  2. Get out more. If you do something like go to the beach with your best friends, or have a barbecue with your family, you'll be too busy having fun to think about the person.
    • Go shopping with your BFF or siblings.
  3. Give yourself time. This is something I had a lot of trouble doing. Don't yell at yourself if you still like the person, over time the crush will fade.
  4. Keep looking. Don't worry, you'll find that perfect person one day. This person was a lesson to be learned from, so watch for the signs of what to avoid in future!

Tips

  • A good way to get over your ex-crush is to give yourself a make-over. You don't have to dye your hair or anything. Just wear a different shade of eyeshadow, get a fresh perm, a tan, or buy a new outfit. So you can start feeling confident again.
  • If someone says that you're too nice or smart (or any other positive trait) for them, that should be a cue of how much they value those traits. Who's want to be a lover to someone who doesn't respect intelligence or kindness?
  • Don't sleep with them again. It will only mix feelings and make things worst. People around you will think you are looking for drama or a headcase.
  • Block him from all social media sites. Anyway he can get in touch with you.

Warnings

  • Don't beg them to go out with you. 'No' means 'no' and that's that.
  • Do not try to get back at the person by dating another guy/girl to make them jealous, flirt with their siblings, nothing like that. You'll look like a bigger jerk than they are.
