Get the Weather in Google Maps

It is not possible to check the weather in the Google Maps update launched May 2013. In May 2014, the weather feature was also removed from the older, "classic" version.

To check the weather worldwide, try weather.com or accuweather.com.

Steps

  1. Go to Google Maps. It is located at http://maps.google.com/.
  2. Hover over the widget titled "Satellite" situated in the upper right hand corner of the Google Maps page. This will cause the options box to appear; you may need to click on "More" to make the list of options cascade.
  3. Select the "Weather" layer or option from the options list.
  4. Watch the map change to a weather-specific one.
  5. To get the weather for a specific location such as a city, simply click on the weather icon for that location. You'll get data on the temperature, humidity and wind.
  6. Check out other parts of the world where friends, family and internet pals live. You can also use this handy tool to plan for vacations and business trips to places you're heading to.
  7. Finished.

Tips

  • Use the left hand panel next to the map to change the units of wind speed (miles per hour, kilometers per hour, miles per second, etc.) and temperature (F/C). This also allows you to enable or disable the clouds when you’re zoomed out.
