Get to Pandaria from Stormwind

The Mists of Pandaria expansion starts with a short questline in Stormwind City (or Orgrimmar for Horde players). After your first visit, a portal to Paw'don Village opens in the north end of Stormwind.

Steps

Returning to Pandaria

  1. Select a character that's already visited Pandaria. If you haven't been to Pandaria yet, skip to the section below.
    • If your character changed factions, you will have to repeat the quest line from the Alliance side to open the route to Pandaria.[1]
  2. Get to the island below the hot air balloon. This small island is on the north end of the city, beyond the wall. A bright red hot air balloon hovers over it.[2]
  3. Enter the portal next to Aysa Cloudsinger. A portal to Paw'don Village is located on the ground, next to a Pandaran monk trainer named Aysa Cloudsinger.[3]

Reaching Pandaria for the First Time

  1. Reach level 85. You cannot start the quest to reach Pandaria until level 85. If you're desperate to get there earlier, you can ask a warlock or mage for a portal at any level.
  2. Enter Stormwind to start the quest. Once you are level 85 and own the Mists of Pandaria expansion, you'll get the King's Command quest as soon as you enter Stormwind. If your quest log is full, remove a quest and talk to Varian Wrynn in Stormwind Keep or check one of the Hero's Call Boards in the city.[4]
    • A bug may prevent players who purchased a level 90 boost from getting this quest. You should be able to jump straight to The Mission quest, described below.
  3. Enter Stormwind Keep. A cinematic will begin as soon as you approach the castle proper in the center of the keep. Watch King Varian and the admiralty talk about a shipwreck on an uncharted island.
  4. Talk to Rell Nightwind to accept The Mission. After the cutscene, your character will be standing in front of Rell Nightwind. Speak with Rell to accept the next quest: The Mission.
  5. Fly to the gunship north of the Stormwind harbor. The massive flying gunship called the Stormfire hovers in the air north of the docks. Fly up to the gunship on a flying mount, or ask someone with a two-person mount for a ride.
  6. Talk to Sky Admiral Rogers. Another cutscene will start, and you will begin the journey to Pandaria.

Tips

  • Once you get to Pandaria, set your hearthstone in the capital city for your faction. This city has portals to all other major cities, making it the most useful hearthstone location.

Warnings

  • Do not try to fly or swim to Pandaria. Your character will die of fatigue.
