Have Valentines Day over a Long Distance Relationship

Valentine's Day is the day of love for everyone. But for some people, it's harder to celebrate because of the distance between them. It's hard to celebrate this holiday if your loved one isn't next to you, but not impossible. Read on to find out how.

Steps

  1. Find ways of communication.
    • You can use Skype to video talk.
    • Chat over your phone.
    • Social media plays a big part in long distance relationships. Talk online on Facebook or Twitter, or another social network.
  2. Plan your day out. Even though you can't be with each other physically, you can still communicate through phones or the Internet. You could go to the same restaurant, or watch a movie at movie theaters.
    • Send them a gift if you can. Whether its jewelry, a teddy bear, or even a card, it's a sweet gesture.
      • If you'd like the gift to arrive on Valentine's Day, you'll have to send it in advance. Do some research on your post office's business days, and remember to take time zones into account.
    • Wake up on Valentine's Day early and send your Valentine an e-card. There are several websites where you can make them.
  3. Watch a movie together. At nighttime, find a movie you both love and play it at the same time.  If one of you can Skype, turn your webcam on and turn it towards your television. You could watch a movie together.
    • Alternatively, try Rabbit. It allows you to watch films or TV shows together with the option of video and audio chat.
  4. Spend the night talking to each other. You could pull an all-nighter, and just be with the one you love. You could Skype, call, or text your Valentine.

Tips

  • If you have the address of your Valentine, buy them roses or a small gift and send it to them. If you're not sure if it'll arrive on Valentine's Day, put a little card that says "Don't open until Valentine's Day".
    • Find out their favorite flower and send them a bouquet. Put a flower in the bouquet and make sure it's fake. Write a note that says "I'll love you until the last rose dies". If you can't personally send your Valentine flowers, ask a dear friend or relative if they can get them and send them for you.
  • If you are a writer, write them a love poem. poem.
  • Send them "Open When" cards. Homemade Cards (or buy one), and put a date on the envelope of the time your Valentine should open them.
    • This is a good way to reenact your first date or the first time you spend together.
