Invite Friends to WhatsApp
This article teaches you how to invite someone from your phone's contacts list to download and join WhatsApp.
Steps
Using an iPhone
- Open WhatsApp. It's the green app with a white phone and chat bubble icon.
- If this is your first time opening WhatsApp on your phone, you'll need to set up WhatsApp first.
- Tap Settings. It's in the bottom-right corner of the screen.
- If WhatsApp opens to a conversation, first tap the back button in the top-left corner of the screen.
- Scroll down and tap Tell a Friend. You'll find this option at the bottom of the screen.
- Tap Message. It's in the middle of the pop-up window here.
- You can also choose other invite options like Facebook or Twitter, but these methods won't send a message directly to a friend or group of friends.
- Tap friends' names. You may tap as many names as you like.
- Any names that appear here are non-WhatsApp users from your iPhone's Contacts app.
- To search for a specific contact, use the search bar at the top of the screen.
- Tap Send [Number] Invites. It's in the bottom-right corner of the screen. Doing so will open a New Message window with a link to WhatsApp.
- If you only tapped one name, you'll see Send 1 Invite instead.
- Tap the send arrow. It's the green (text) or blue (iMessage) icon in the right side of the text window near the bottom of the screen. Doing so will send a WhatsApp invite to your selected person (or people); if they download and join WhatsApp, you'll be able to contact them through the app.
