Jump off a Sidewalk Curb on a Bike

Sidewalk curbs aren't just made to prevent cars from hitting pedestrians. When used correctly, it can make a good jump for a bike.

Steps

  1. Approach the curb at a fast speed.
  2. Look ahead and behind you for any cars on the road.
  3. Make final angle adjustments, if needed.
  4. Stand up on your bike if you haven't done so already.
  5. Once your front wheel reaches the edge of the curb, lift up your handlebars to lift your front wheel up.
  6. Absorb the landing by squatting when both of your wheels hit the ground.

Tips

  • Start small and practice.
  • The edge of the curb is painted yellow in no parking zones. Use this as a guide to determine when to lift you handle bars up.

  • Only jump if you feel confident to do so.
  • Wear a helmet, and if you want to, protective gear.
