Kickup on a Kick Scooter

A kick-up is a fairly simple kick scooter trick in which you can kick your legs up in the air while you ride on a scooter. It's tricky to balance with your feet in the air, but it's fun once you get the hang of it.

Steps

  1. Put on a helmet or other safety gear before you try this trick. It's tricky to balance on it so your best bet is to stay safe.
  2. Start riding normally until you get a decent speed going.
  3. Lean forward as far as you can. Try to get your stomach on top of the handlebars, but make sure you still have good footing on the scooter.
  4. Bring your legs up and you should be doing something that looks like a squat. Try to keep your legs as balanced as possible, and you can generally move your legs in any way you want from that position.
  5. Note that you may feel a little sore in the abdomen from doing this too long.
  6. If you start to tip over or lose speed, move both your feet to the ground (keep leaning on the handlebars while you're doing this) and kick off with both feet before bringing them up again.

Tips

  • Try to do this in a fairly flat, simple-to ride area. If there are obstacles or hills, it will be hard to control your scooter whilst you are kicking your legs around in the air.
  • To turn, just gradually turn the handlebar, and squat without moving your legs (kicking might throw you off balance and you'll fall)
  • If you want to quickly do the trick, skip the first step and just lean on the handlebars, put your feet on the ground, kick off with both feet, and put your feet in the air.
