Make Duct Tape Fabric
Duct tape fabric can be used much like regular fabric. Use it to create wallets, purses, bags and anything else you can dream up. Duct tape is available in many colors and patterns.
Steps
- Start your duct tape fabric by cutting a strip of your favorite color of duct tape to the desired length and lay its sticky side up on your work surface.
- Roll out and cut another strip of duct tape to the same length.
- Place the second strip sticky side down so it overlaps the first piece about halfway. The sticky sides should be together. Be careful when layering these, as once placed they are very hard to rip off.
- Flip the piece over and layer another strip the same way.
- Continue until the sheet is as long as you would like.
- Fold the bottom strip over so that there is a crease at the bottom and the sticky part is now gone. Do the same to the top piece.
Tips
- If you want it a wider length get a tape measure or ruler using the inch side.
- Consider using different colored or patterned duct tape!
- If the fabric is not as wide as you wanted, you can use the same technique but make it overlap with your original piece!
Warnings
- Be sure to take a break from tape if you're around it a lot. It can be harmful if you inhale the sticky part
- Duct tape is so sticky that it will take paint off walls, remove the finish on furniture, etc. So do this on glass!!!
Things You'll Need
- Duct tape.
- Scissors - if you can't tear the duct tape yourself.
- Ruler - if you want to be exact.
- An open work space where the duct tape will not attach to anything it shouldn't!
