Make Friends All over the World

Making friends from all over the world is no longer difficult to do. Finding people from different countries is just a click away on your computer. With the help of a large world map, you can travel through cyberspace, from one country to another, and never leave your room.

Steps

  1. Open your map on a table or pin it to a wall in your computer room.
  2. Put a 'pin' on the country you want to start with.
  3. Search Google for 'Find a Free Pen Pal Online'. You can search for a pen pal in any specific country,or find a good and secure website that allows you to talk to students and teachers all over the world, like Students Of The World.
  4. Go through the list of pen pals and find a few that seem to be the age you are looking for, with similar interests.
  5. Send E Mails to a Friend Who Doesn't Speak English to them. Introduce yourself - Tell them a little bit about who you are, where you live, and explain that you are searching for 'friends' from all over the world.
  6. Give them your Convince Your Parents to Let You Get an Email Address and ask them to write.
  7. Go to the next country on the map and do the same thing, again placing a pin on that country.
  8. Pretty soon, you will have made friends from all over the world and your map will be filled with a lot of pins.
  9. Don't forget to write back to them, because that is how the friendship really progresses.

Tips

  • Do not give out your regular email address. Get a new one and use it only for your pen pal emails.
  • Ask them about their country and tell them about yours! Most people are very proud of where they live and will be only too happy to tell you all about it.
  • If they mention a celebrity from their country, Google that person! It will give you something to talk about!
  • Learn their language! There's nothing more awkward than talking to someone who doesn't speak your language and it's a real struggle. Ask them which language they prefer to chat in. Use Google Translate if you're not very good at languages.
  • You should write to multiple people from the same country because if one person does not respond, you'll likely hear from one of the others.
  • If you find that the three from one particular country do not write back, then go back to that country's pen pal list, and write someone else.

Warnings

  • Don't ask overly-personal questions. You could ask them about their celebrity crush, but don't talk too much about relationships until you've been chatting for a while.
  • Don't arrange to meet them unless your pen pal was introduced to you through your school. This way, your teachers have contact with theirs and know the children.
  • Do not give out personal information about you or your family or your home address or your area, or your real email address, you should make a new email for pen pal. in your initial contact. You can safely mention your interests, the country you live in and what life is like where you live.
