Make Heart‐Shaped Chocolate Chip Cookies

Looking to add a fun twist to your chocolate chip cookies? Creating heart-shaped cookies is a perfect Valentine's Day treat, or just a fun way to remind someone you love them.

Recipe makes approx. 18 cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup salted butter, softened
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 ¾ cups (12 oz) all-purpose flour
  • ¾ teaspoon sea salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 ¼ cups semi-sweet chocolate chips

Steps

  1. Preheat the oven. Before you begin mixing ingredients, preheat the oven to 360°F/182°C.
  2. Cream the butter and sugar until fluffy. Combine the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar in a large mixing bowl, then use an electric mixer to cream the ingredients together.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla. Put the eggs and vanilla extract in the large mixing bowl and beat all ingredients together for at least two minutes.
  4. Combine flour, salt, and baking soda. In a medium mixing bowl, pour in the flour, salt, and baking soda and mix it together. Gradually incorporate this into the mixture in the large mixing bowl.
  5. Add the chocolate chips. Pour the chocolate chips into the large mixing bowl and mix everything together. You may have to mix them by hand using a wooden spoon rather than the electric mixer.
  6. Roll out the dough. Scoop the dough out of the bowl and onto a clean, flat surface. Use a rolling pin to roll the dough until it's relatively flat.
  7. Cut out the hearts. Using your heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut the dough into hearts.
  8. Place onto baking sheet. Use a spatula to scoop the heart-shaped cookies onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges of the cookies are golden brown.
  10. Let cool. Transfer the cookies onto a cooling rack, let cool for 4 minutes, and enjoy.
  11. Finished!

Tips

  • Remember to use parchment paper when baking the cookies, otherwise they might spread too much and become one huge cookie.
