Make Homemade Pizza Hut Cheese Bread

Have a hankering for Pizza Hut cheese bread but don’t have the energy to run out to your local restaurant for an order? With a few ingredients you most likely have around the house, you can replicate this savory, cheesy recipe.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups of warm water
  • 1 (1/4 oz.) packet of active dry yeast
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup non-fat dry milk
  • 3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup melted butter (use half to coat pans and half for the breadsticks)
  • 8 oz. whole milk shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Dash of a combination (equal parts) of garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper

Steps

Combine Ingredients

  1. Dissolve yeast in the warm water. For best results, place water and yeast in a large, Kitchen Aid mixer with dough hook attachment.
    • Let yeast sit and ferment for approximately 5 minutes.
  2. Add sugar, salt and milk. Mix until combined with the yeast and water. Don’t over mix, just ensure ingredients are integrated.
  3. Integrate flour into mixture, pouring and mixing one cup at a time. Knead dough with dough hook attachment for approximately 5 minutes.
  4. Knead dough on a well floured, flat surface. Turn dough over and knead to incorporate additional flour for about 5 minutes. Dough should be a silky, smooth texture.
  5. Roll dough using a rolling pin to fit the size of your pan. Turn dough over to ensure a flat, even size.

Create and Bake Cheese Bread

  1. Flour the rolling pin before rolling dough to prevent the pin from sticking to the dough.
  2. Flood the pan with half of the warm, melted butter. Be sure you coat not only the bottom of the pan, but the sides too.
  3. Place rolled dough in the pan and allow it to rise for approximately 15 minutes.
    • Consider covering pan with a dry towel and placing the pan in a draft free area of the kitchen.
  4. Spread remaining melted butter over the top of the risen cheese bread dough. Use a brush to ensure the butter coats every inch of the bread.
  5. Sprinkled the garlic powder, mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, salt and pepper combination over the top of the bread.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until the top of the bread is golden brown.
  7. Cut into strips and serve with marinara sauce.
  8. Finished.

Tips

  • Options for toppings include leaving the bread plain or using a combination (or single) of olive oil, rosemary, roasted garlic or even a dash of cayenne pepper.
  • Consider partnering the bread with other sauces such as blue cheese or ranch dressing, Alfredo sauce or even a homemade cheese sauce.
