Eat Pizza Without Burning Your Mouth

Burning your mouth is a common occurrence when eating hot pizza. Follow these steps to assure you suffer minimal damage to your mouth. Hopefully you can eat hot pizza without getting blisters on the roof of your mouth.

Steps

  1. Give time for your pizza to cool. Sometimes this is not always possible. If not, proceed to the next step.
    • Place a slice on a plate and cover the pizza. Pop it in the freezer for 30 seconds. It'll come out warm and ready to eat.
  2. Loosen the cheese from the sauce using a fork or knife. It's probably the sauce that burns your mouth, so by exposing it to the cooler air around it, it will cool off more quickly.
  3. Slice it into small pieces.
  4. Try and pull the cheese up and put it down again so that the heat and smoke won't be just on the bottom.
  5. Blow on your slice of pizza.
  6. Take a small bite to assure the pizza has cooled off to your liking.
  7. If it's still too hot for you, drink a favorite cold drink.

Tips

  • Soda goes great with pizza.
  • Take the pizza to go! Share! It should still be hot enough!
  • Wait about 3 to 5 minutes for pizza to cool down.
  • Try a pizza buffet: food that's been sitting out will have cooled some.
  • You could order your pizza ahead if you don't have the time it takes (3 minutes on average) to let it cool first.
  • Always let the pizza cool so you won't to cause serious damage to your mouth.

Warnings

  • When you get your pizza, don't eat it like you haven't eaten in years. Take some time for it to get a bit cooler and then you can enjoy!
