Turn Frozen Pizza into a Gourmet Delight
Take a simple frozen one or two topping pizza and turn it into a gourmet delight.
Contents
Steps
- Buy a simple frozen pizza; pepperoni, sausage, cheese, etc. Unwrap the pizza at home, and pull off the pepperoni or sausage. Set them aside.
- Put a roughly chopped onion, crushed garlic, chopped tomatoes, olive oil, and a bit of water in a bowl. Use whatever you have in your kitchen you might like on a pizza; canned olives, Parmesan cheese, anchovies, sun-dried tomatoes, etc.
- Loosely stir these items together, coating them with the oil and water. Put in the microwave for about 6-7 minutes on high. For more items and more than one pizza, obviously more water and longer time in the microwave. After the items have cooked in the microwave, take them out and stir. Look carefully to make sure there is not a lot of excess water. If so, pour it off into the sink.
- Pour the items in the bowl onto the pizza and spread around evenly. Replace the toppings that you previously removed.
- Bake as directed on the pizza box. Cool and enjoy.
- Finished.
Tips
- The pepperoni does not cook properly if it is not cooked on the top of the pizza.
- Keep garlic, tomatoes, etc. on hand. If not, you will obviously need to buy these items to improve this pizza.
Warnings
- Be realistic - frozen pizza is nowhere near as good as a fresh and properly made one. By the time you go to all this effort, you might as well make fresh dough and be done with it.
