Make Indian Potato Curry With Green Chilli Base

Just a friendly warning - the green chili base in this curry makes it really spicy. It's only for the daring and the habituated, but goodness, it's tasty!

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg boiled peeled potatoes
  • 2 ground green chillies
  • 3 tbsp ground coriander
  • 1 tbsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 75 ml oil
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds - roasted and ground with a little water
  • 1 1/2 tsp amchur (dry mango powder)
  • 3/4 tsp sesame seeds
  • 1/2 tsp sesame powder
  • chopped coriander to garnish

Steps

  1. Add a little oil, and then add sesame seeds so that they sparkle.
  2. Add chillies, garlic, turmeric and salt, till the oil separates.
  3. Add potatoes. Stir-fry them for two to three minutes. Add sesame powder, amchur, and season well.
  4. Serve garnished with coriander.

Tips

  • If you want to make the dish blander, add a little cream toward the end or even hung yogurt.
  • When boiling the potatoes, add a bit of salt.
  • It is important that you add turmeric powder in with the chillies. If you do otherwise, the turmeric will remain uncooked.

Warnings

  • This curry is really spicy so it might burn your tongue. Not recommended for little children under the age of 13 unless if they have the guts to eat it.
