Make a Freckled Face Farmer Costume
People everywhere try to come up with unique costumes for Halloween every year, going from eerie to humorous, and this look will fall under the latter part and the former for the fright fans. The items that are needed for this look should be easy to find.
Steps
- Recognize that it is very important that the hair cut is just right. You are aiming towards a funny appearance. Therefore, begin by placing the wig on the person's head that will be wearing it. You'll then need to concentrate on the length of the cut, which needs to be below the ears, and a little below the chin area...keeping the cut well rounded. The top needs to be cut in to long bangs, at least near the brow area.
- Apply a little hair spray to give the wig (hair) a straw dried out look about it.
- Draw in the freckles using the brown eyebrow pencil, just below the cheekbone, on a cheek at a time. Do four dots (fairly heavy) in a square (two at the top) and (two lower down) add a fifth dot, directly, in the center. Once this is completed, if you were connecting dots, it should make a perfect X.
- Slip on the shirt, step into the overalls, put on the boots, top it off with the straw hat, and you're set for a day and night of fun.
- For different eerie Freckled farmer look, use a large hog-face mask,
- Add a red rubber nose, to get the look of a comedic drunk farmer. This classic character has been sipping moonshine and chasing the hillbilly gals around the butter churn!
- HAVE FUN!
Tips
- You may want to have a handkerchief, or even a small ear of corn, sticking out of the Farmer's pocket, to accent the look.
- If this look is for a child, it is suggested that you use a small fruit basket in place of a "Trick or Treat" bag. You can first spray paint the basket a bright red or orange color...it will add that special touch to the costume.
- If you don't want to bother with a wig, just braid your hair behind each ear. You don't have to be a redhead to be a farmer. Stick a bit of straw in your hair and grab one of those long grass/grain things to chew on, and you're set.
- If you want to give your farm boy a more silly look color or draw in red freckles.
- Ideas for a goodie bag: a metal pail or large wicker basket both work well, but make sure the basket is easy to carry and deep enough that you won't have candy spilling all over the place.
- You can use a western straw hat, but be sure that it looks (fairly) old and that the shape of the hat fits the look. If not, bend and shape it to fit. The hat is a very important part of creating the perfect look on this Farmer, so make a wise choice and shop around.
- You can also, dye a blond wig if you can't find a red wig.
- Be sure that on the apparel that you do not press them and so forth, for that is not the look that you're aiming towards.
