Make a New Friend Fast

Have you ever felt like you needed a new friend? Have you wanted someone you could go out with, talk to and have fun with? Read on and you can have a lot of new friends!

Steps

  1. Be clean and look nice. You have to have a good hygiene and look neat and okay. No one wants to talk to someone that looks grubby or dirty. Dress and feel comfortable, but still maintain your own style. You don’t have to look perfect, just make sure you are clean. Remember that it’s okay if you don’t look like a beautiful celebrity. Just quickly fix your hair and straighten your jacket. You will be fine.
  2. Seem confident. Have a good posture and keep your head held high. People will pay more attention to you if they see that you aren’t afraid of taking risks. Don’t overdo it though, people may seem frightened if you some out too strong.
  3. Look for a nice person. Try not to walk up to just anyone. Try to find someone that matches your personality, as it will be more fun because you are alike. Don’t change yourself so people will like you, if you don’t like a person and want to talk to another, just kindly walk away when you feel it’s the right time. It’s okay to realize that this person might not be the one for you. Just try again with someone new.
  4. Introduce yourself, and ask their names too. Don’t forget to smile and ask how are they doing. Try to remember their names and any likes or interests that they have. It might be useful when planning an event.
  5. Smile showing your teeth, because that makes you look friendly and open. Remember that not everyone is going to like you. Accept that while friends might see you as a nice person, they might not be friends. Allies or friendly people are different than friend or buddies.
  6. Start an interesting conversation. Don't be too quiet or they'll get bored. Talk about things YOU care about (e.g. talk about an interesting movie you saw another day and why it was so interesting to you or somewhere fun you went to another day that was important to you and why it was important). Talk about things you really care about and then they will understand you.
  7. Listen to them also. Don't just talk; listening to them is what's really important. Ask about things they care about and let them talk about what they care about. Ask questions, as you then seem interested, and they sure will appreciate that.
  8. Keep connected. Give them your phone number and get theirs. Remember to tell them you truly enjoyed to be with them. Don’t say anything you are uncomfortable with. If you don’t wish to share personal information, then don’t. At the end of the day, make sure that you are happy with what you said and look at how they respond to anything during the conversation.
  9. Don’t be to pushy or desperate. If they don’t like you, then find another person. Don’t be rude and think about their needs as well as yours.

Tips

  • Don't talk over your friend.
  • Just enjoy yourself - because when you are having a good time, everyone does too.
  • If your potential friend has a dog and so do you, meet up at a dog park. It will give your dogs great exercise and it's a good chance for you two to walk around and really get to know each other.
  • Give it time, you can't just instantly be best friends.
  • Really open up and be yourself.
