Make a Rear Bike Mount
Many things are used to carry items on bicycles, this being one.
Steps
- Use a small piece of 2x4 stock, cut to a length suitable for your use (.2 to .9m). Yellow pine is best, though scraps of hardwood (thickness is important) are very good.
- In a vertical position, measure the angle formed by your seat post (i.e. 10 degrees from vertical or 80 degrees off horizontal).
- Drill a hole the precise diameter of your seat post about 37 to 77 mm from the end and the selfsame angle.
- Slide over post.
- Hold bike straight and see level and square position of your build. This may not work the first time, though you will see where you stand.
- Put a screw or a lag on either side of the horizontal bar or a clamp above the rear brake. One can easily carry a fellow traveler, with the right stock. If you've an eye to saddle bags,a 2x6 should do nicely.
