Find Other Recumbent Cyclists in Your Area

Here are some different methods for finding other recumbent cyclists in your area of the world.

Steps

  1. Check to see if other cyclists are registered at RecumbentRiders.org in your area.  Riders are grouped by the state, or country they typically ride in.
  2. Try searching the Yahoo Groups for various recumbent cycling groups or clubs.
  3. Try Google with something like: Recumbent user OR cycling group OR club -stationary -exercise -machine (Note: The minus suffix tells Google to skip web pages related to stationary exercise machines)
  4. Visit a nearby recumbent bicycle dealership, and inquire to see if they have any group rides in the area. For recumbent bicycle dealerships, Google Recumbent+Bicycle+Shops+in+Georgia then pick the "maps" tab up at the top.
  5. Check current discussions found on various recumbent cycling forums (e.g. BROL, BikeForums.net, etc.). Google Bent Rider Online, Recumbent Cycling Forum, etc.
  6. Look on manufacturer websites for discussion groups about various events that may be occurring in your area (e.g. Bacchetta).
  7. Go to events that attract recumbent riders. Oftentimes, rides like BRAG (Bike Ride Across Georgia) just by their high mileage nature draw many recumbent riders out at one time for an event.  Also fund raising events, parades, and holiday rides are popular among recumbent riders (e.g. Bike MS, Thanksgiving Parades, Festival of Christmas Lights, etc.).
  8. Peruse the various recumbent blogs to learn who's doing what, and where they're riding.
  9. Consider a trip to some of the larger recumbent bicycle retailers (Hostel Shoppe, BicycleMan, etc.), or even a recumbent bicycle manufacturer.  Some have annual gatherings each year and that's an excellent place to meet up with other recumbent cyclists.
  10. Search for 'recumbent' news articles on the web to realize who's in the headlines and where they're riding, geographically speaking.
