Make an Easy First Move on a Girl at a Movie

Do you like a girl but not want to overwhelm her by jumping straight to a kiss? Here are some tips to get her interested without going too far.

Steps

  1. Start simple and non-obvious. Rest your knee against hers.
  2. Talk to her about the movie. Lean in close and whisper to her. It's very intimate, even if you're talking about something trivial.
  3. Hold hands with her. Although this isn't really a huge thing, girls appreciate the sentiment behind it and won't find it overbearing. Just reach over and grab her hand (not violently or suddenly) during the movie. Be gentle. If all goes well, don't let go, even after the movie is over. Walk out of the movie holding hands.
  4. Put your arm around her. Find a time when you can nonchalantly drape your arm across her shoulders. If she responds positively, pull her in close to you. It's often easier to do this with the armrest up. Try to raise it while she's in the bathroom or before she sits down. Otherwise, it can seem a little odd. If you don't think she will be creeped out by the action, go ahead and do it in front of her.
  5. Play with her hair. As long as it isn't done up in a complicated fashion, girls find this very sweet.
  6. If she responds well to all of these, go in for the kiss! Get her attention somehow, by blowing on her cheek or pushing a piece of hair behind her ear.

Tips

  • Make sure everything is sweet and gentle, not overbearing or creepy.
  • Generally, it's awkward if you ask a girl if you can do something. If you ask, "Can I kiss you?" it might make the situation awkward. If you really aren't sure if she wants you to or not, go ahead and ask. If you are fairly sure of the outcome, just go for it. It will seem much sweeter and less awkward.
  • If a girl is receptive to one of the moves you make, you can always make that move alone more intense. For example, if a girl likes that you are holding her hand, you could stroke the back of her hand with your thumb. If she responds well to your arm around her, let her put her head on your shoulder. Squeeze her shoulder. Pull her in close enough that you could rub her arm during a sweet scene in the movie.
  • Read the signs. You can always go farther if she's receptive, but if she seems put off, back off.
  • Go to a movie with friends. That way, you can still put your arm around her or hold hands, but you won't feel pressured to go farther. Make sure that the friends you invite won't tease you or make it weird, though. Talk to them ahead of time, if you like, but make sure they don't talk to the girl.

Warnings

  • Don't act nervous! If you seem nervous, she will get nervous. That makes for a very awkward moment.
