Make an Orange Mojito

An orange mojito uses not only muddled oranges but also orange liqueur for a strong and bright orange flavor. Use a tall glass for this beverage, and make it in early spring when oranges are in season.

Ingredients

Servings: 1

  • 5 mint leaves
  • 2 orange wedges
  • 1 oz. (30 ml) lime juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 oz. (30 ml) simple syrup
  • 1 1/2 oz. (45 ml) light rum
  • 1/2 oz. (15 ml) orange liqueur
  • Ice cubes
  • Splash of club soda
  • Orange wheel for garnish

Steps

  1. Muddle the mint leaves with the orange wedges, lime juice and simple syrup in a tall glass. Muddle until you can smell the fragrance of the mint and until the oranges have released their juice.
  2. Add the rum and the orange liqueur.
  3. Fill the glass 2/3 full of ice cubes.
  4. Top the drink with the splash of club soda.
  5. Garnish with an orange wheel on the rim of the glass.

Tips

  • For a variation, use blood orange wedges instead of regular navel orange wedges.
  • A simple syrup infused with fresh basil is also good in this recipe.
