Play Minecraft in Creative Mode

In Minecraft there are 2 modes, Creative and Survival. In this article you will learn how to play the Creative gamemode within Minecraft in a few steps. There are 2 ways you can play Creative mode, on a server (with friends) and on a single-player world.

Steps

Play Creative Mode With Friends

  1. Open your game. After opening your game you'll be able to the select the "Multiplayer" option on the main menu.
  2. Add the server. To do this hit the "Add Server' button and enter the following information into the text boxes.
  3. Pick the Creative option on the compass. When you right-click the compass on the server it will bring up a menu, the creative option is this one.
  4. Claim your own plot and start building. In order to claim your plot you will need to type a quick command in chat. The command you need to type is /plot auto you can type this command by first pressing T on your keyboard. Once you type the command you'll be automatically teleported to your plot where you can build anything!

Play Creative Mode On Single-Player

  1. Create a creative mode world. Super flat is most recommended.
  2. Then, open your inventory. You will see almost every block/item in here. Bottle O Enchanting just gives experience points.
  3. Select some blocks, and build away! (Light switch video below.)



Tips

  • Tools have infinite durability in Creative Mode.
  • Build your house with gold, diamond, emerald or whatever you want!
  • If you accidentally clear inventory, If you click the scrolling bar on the Mouse it gives you the block you're looking at.
  • Want less entities? Play in Peaceful Mode.
  • Glowstone is most recommended to make a cool house.
  • Most recommended for 1.8-1.0 and 1.2.3.
  • Try playing with Modpacks like Tekkit Classic, you can experiment with lots of other blocks.

Warnings

  • In creative mode you can fly, so falling into the Void isn't really much of a problem...
  • Be careful! You can delete bedrock, and you could end up in the Void!
  • If you're playing on a server, beware of griefers! If you give them permissions, they can do whatever they want to your plot, and some servers only give you one plot!
