Prepare Cellophane Noodles

Cellophane noodles are also known as fensi in China, miến in Vietnam and harusame in Japan. They are also known as transparent noodles, glass noodles, or bean vermicelli noodles. They're very fine noodle strands made from mung beans or potato flour if of Japanese origin. They're brittle when dry but very firm and strong when cooked and they don't turn soggy.

Steps

  1. Prepare a Transfer Cupcake Batter from the Bowl that is large enough to take the cellophane noodles. Pour in enough warm water to cover the noodles.
  2. Put the cellophane noodles into the bowl to soak.
  3. Leave to soak for about 15 minutes. They will soften in the warm water.
  4. Use a pair of kitchen shears or kitchen scissors, or a sharp knife, to cut the softened threads to the desired length.
  5. Use them in a Recipes as required. They are now ready to be added straight to a dish as directed by the recipe.
  6. Finished.



Tips

  • Cellophane noodles are not usually served alone as they don't have their own flavour.
