Make Egg Noodles Using a Food Processor
Making homemade egg noodles or any type of pasta is easy using the food processor. Follow these basic directions to make almost any type of pasta dough.
Ingredients
- 1 egg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons whole milk -- use top (extra rich) milk if possible
- 1 cup flour
Steps
- Place salt and flour in a food processor bowl.
- Pulse to blend.
- Add the egg and milk.
- Process until a soft ball of dough forms.
- Let rest in the food processor bowl, covered, for 15 to 20 minutes.
- Use a pasta roller and cutter attachment, following manufacturer's directions, to shape and cut the dough.
- Finished.
Tips
- Let the cut noodles dry 2 hours before using in soup or as a side dish.
- Roll out the dough very thin with a rolling pin and let rest 20 minutes. Then roll the dough into a cigar shape and cut with a sharp knife into noodles. Try to cut the noodles 1/8-inch thick, if possible. Use this old-fashioned method when a pasta maker is not available.
- Use in favorite soup or as a side dish.
- Let the noodles dry on a clean, smooth, cotton dish towels.
- It helps to lightly dust the dough with flour before running it through the pasta machine.
