Refuel an F 16 at 500 Mph

Chances are, you don't have an Air Force KC-135, which is what you need to complete this task. If you do, you probably already know what you're doing. But hey, use this knowledge to impress your friends, and enjoy it the next time an F-16 soars over your head.

Steps

  1. Keep your cool! Lower the refueling boom to around 20 degrees.
  2. Give the F-16 the green FWD light to move in.
  3. Come off the light when it is in position, that's its signal to stop FWD motion.
  4. Track the boom along the top of the F-16 Windshield being careful not to touch the glass. The backseater's eyes are like saucers. Watch out for the little shark antennas, there's the receptacle, guide your boom to the mark, gently extending the nozzle in, green light comes on. You have "contact"
  5. Wait for F-16 pilot to confirm "contact".
  6. Keep your hand on the release trigger in case he makes a sudden move. He's now getting gas at a rate of {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} per min.

Tips

  • Get some training from Boomers who do this day and night all around the world.

Warnings

  • Flying two airplanes in close vicinity can be hazardous.
  • Watch the glass! It is possible to shatter a windshield, which is deadly past approximately {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} travel speed and {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} above sea level..
