Schools have all their different PPL lessons, and it's yours to find what interest you. The content is the same, only different teaching method. Those three are about the most attended ones:
    • Icelandic Flight Academy

Vocational

  1. Be ready to fly.
    • Apply for flying lessons - best to do so at the same school as the academic part
  2. Know the requirements:
    • You will need around 12 flying times with a teacher, where you learn the basics and practices that you need to know.
    • After you have finished these hours you will go through progress test, where you demonstrate your skills at flying, emergency and practices. If you finish it, you will then get a solo.
    • Solo is where you fly alone in the airplane and practice landings, emergency, steep turns etc.
    • You will need at least 10 flying hours in solo.
    • After solo and during solo, a teacher will fly with you.
    • During your final preparations, you will demonstrate on the final exam and what you need to know and so on for that.
    • At the end of your flying hours, you will take a skill test at the school, and graduate.
    • But you then have to take a similar test at the Icelandic Transport Association before you get your final PPL.
  3. Know how the vocational PPL looks like:
    • 45 hours in total:
    • 25 hours Dual (With teacher)
    • 10 hours solo
    • 5 hours Cross Country
    • One flight, 150 NM where you make 2 full stop landings on different airports, other than your departure airport.
    • Night rating (You will need this after PPL and before ATPL)
    • Minimum 5 hours:
    • 3 hours Dual (With teacher)
    • 1 hour Cross Country
    • 5 landings and take-offs
