Remove Hair With Chemical Hair Removers

If you are tired of shaving every other day or maybe even every day, you will really appreciate this type of product! It will keep the skin smooth so much longer than shaving.

Steps

  1. There are a few different brands and types of chemical hair removers, also called depilatories. Some are a lotion-type hair remover and others are spray on. Two popular brands are Nair and Sally Hansen, which are both affordable. You can find all different kinds at your local drugstore. Experiment and find which one works for you!
  2. Once you have it picked out, gather everything you need. Doing this in the bathroom will help a lot.
  3. Put a small patch of the product on the inside of your wrist. Wait at least a few hours, but 24 hours is better. If it seems to cause any discomfort, don't use it. But if it itches, don't worry too much because it will make your skin itch a bit. Just use your own judgment.
  4. If using a rub-on type, put a large amount in your hand and spread thickly on desired area. Wait 4 minutes and wipe a small part off. If the hair is removed easily, rinse or wipe off the rest. If not, keep it on for a few more minutes. Don't keep it on for more than 10 minutes.
  5. The spray on kind is basically the same as above, except you spray it on.

Tips

  • If it dried your skin out, apply some alcohol-free lotion. If you use lotion containing alcohol it will sting and further irritate the skin.
  • Shower after, to get rid of the smell.
  • If you are removing facial hair, make sure you are using one specifically made for your face. If you use the body kind, it will REALLY irritate you skin.
  • For hard to reach areas, such as your back, ask a friend or relative to help you.

Warnings

  • It will itch, depending on how much you can stand, a lot or a little. Be prepared!
  • Keep a close eye on any reactions, especially the first few times you use a chemical hair remover.
