Replace Headlight Bulbs for Mercedes Benz C Class W203

This is a headlight unit bulb replacement guide for non-xenon headlights on Mercedes C-Class W203 models produced between 2001-2007.

Steps

  1. Before you start make sure that the car engine bonnet is open and exterior lamp switch is turned to position 0. Use housing covers and bulb sockets as shown in the diagrams below or as shown in references.[1].

For low beam bulb

  1. Press the clamp on housing cover 1 and then remove it.
  2. Pull off the electrical connector.
  3. Turn bulb socket 4 counterclockwise and take out the bulb.
  4. Insert the new bulb in the recess housing space exactly where the previous bulb was placed.
  5. Turn bulb socket 4 clockwise until it is in place.
  6. Plug the electrical connector on the bulb.
  7. Align housing cover 1 and press it on.

For high beam bulb

  1. Press the clamp on housing cover 2 and then remove it.
  2. Pull off the electrical connector.
  3. Turn bulb socket 5 counterclockwise and take out the bulb.
  4. Insert the new bulb in the recess housing space exactly where the previous bulb was placed.
  5. Turn bulb socket 5 clockwise until it is in place.
  6. Plug the electrical connector on the bulb.
  7. Align housing cover 2 and press it on.

For turn signal lamp bulb

  1. Turn bulb socket 3 counterclockwise with the bulb and then remove it.
  2. Press gently on the bulb and turn it counterclockwise out of the bulb socket 3.
  3. Press new bulb gently into the bulb socket 3 until it is in place.
  4. Place bulb socket 3 back in the lamp and turn it clockwise.

For parking and standing bulb

  1. Press the clamp on housing cover 2 and then remove it.
  2. Pull out bulb socket 6 with the bulb.
  3. Pull the bulb out of the bulb socket 6.
  4. Press the new bulb into the bulb socket 6.
  5. Press bulb socket 6 back into the lamp.
  6. Align housing cover 2 and press it on.
