Reset a Maintenance Warning Light in a Car

Doesn't it drive you mad when you're driving on the road, and all of a sudden a warning light on your dash appears? This article will show you how to manually reset your maintenance light so you could drive your car without having the distraction of a warning light.

Steps

  1. First, take out your driver's manual and find out whether your vehicle has a fully or semi-computerized system.
  2. If it is a fully computerized, then you cannot reset it because it has sensors that reset the system. If it is semi-computerized, then find the odometer resetting button (usually located on the dash).
  3. Hold it down and turn the ignition on and off three times.
  4. If light is still on, then pump the gas pedal three times while ignition is on and wait. It should turn off in less 10 seconds.
