Ride Double on a Mountain Bike

Have you ever had to go somewhere with a friend, but you only have one bike? For most people, this is a major difficulty. Not for you! Oh, no, no, no. Two people can fit with a bit of ingenuity if they know some tricks!

Steps

  1. The more experienced rider should mount up and put the pedals so that one is forward and the other is facing toward the back.
  2. He or she should stand far forward and hold the bike firmly while the other person gets on the seat. They should put their feet up on the axles, careful not to get in the spokes or in the way of the pedals.
  3. The person in front should then hold the bike as straight up as possible, and put their foot on the pedal. Then they should make sure there's no traffic and start pedalling.
  4. Enjoy the strange looks on people's faces as you ride by.

Tips

  • If the person in front wears a backpack, it is much easier because it has lots of places for the passenger to hold on to, and it reduces the awkwardness of the two people holding on to each other.

Warnings

  • The person in front should remember not to sit down. This could be painful to the passenger.
  • This is somewhat dangerous.
