Ride Scooters (for Kids)

Here are the basics for riding a scooter.

Steps

  1. Hold onto the handles and put one foot on the deck and the other foot on the floor. (Try both feet each way until you know which foot you prefer to go where.)
    • Practice balancing on a beam to balance.
  2. Slowly at first, push against the floor and backwards with the foot on the floor and then lift up your foot. You should now move forwards.
  3. Build up your confidence until you can go faster. Now you can ride a scooter.
  4. If you want to move around faster on your scooter you will need to know how to jump on your scooter.

Tips

  • Don't rush into going fast, take your time.
  • Don't worry about people watching, who cares what they think anyway?

Warnings

  • Braking too hard can damage wheels and cause an uncomfortable ride. Brake gently but frequently.
  • Going fast can cause you to fall off, so be careful.
