Tips

  • Call ahead each morning to secure you lodging for the evening.
  • Fit full knobby tires and carry an air pump to adjust pressure for sandy sections.
  • The route is a balance of long distance gravels roads and tight single track or Jeep trails. Too heavy a bike and you'll hate the most scenic parts. Too light a bike and you'll be bored with the long days in the saddle.
  • Carry a Satellite Phone as Cell coverage is spotty.
  • Always carry a set of tools and parts. As well as a first-aid kit.
  • Have a minimum {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} range on you motorcycle.

Warnings

  • Thunderstorms can come out of nowhere especially in the high mountain passes. Rain can make sections impassible due to the mud bogs that will form.
  • Ride with a buddy. Many have fallen and hurt themselves and their bikes.
  • Have your bike in tip-top shape. You will go hours without seeing a soul. Know how to fix a flat.
