Ride a Moped

Moped's are a very convenient way to get around a small to medium sized town, and are also fun to ride! They get great gas mileage, so they're also good for commuting.

Steps

  1. Familiarize yourself with the controls. Locate the hand brakes, throttle, gauges, horn, turn signals (if applicable), horn, kickstart, and electrical start. Before you begin riding, make sure you understand how to operate each of these controls.
  2. Practice riding on secluded roads, and get comfortable before you start riding around others. It is very tempting to drive over the speed limit, but resist, mopeds are not as safe as cars, and if you crash, the damage to your person may be much greater.
  3. When you begin riding on busier roads, you must still follow all the normal traffic laws, and be extra cautious. Cars do not always see you, so it's up to you to keep an eye out for others. Always wear a helmet, and do not overload your scooter, if you do, it may become difficult to control, and you will become a hazard to others.

Tips

  • Wear a helmet!
  • Take an approved moped safety course.
  • Be courteous, it doesn't do to anger the people with 2 tons of metal.
