Secretly Play Video Games when You're Grounded

Being grounded isn't much fun, and if the offense you are being punished for is serious enough, you may even lose your gaming privileges. Hopefully after reading this you will know all the right tricks to avoid being caught while sneaking game time in.

Steps

  1. Make sure your video game system and games are in a room that is not usually entered. Or if you have a game system in your room you can play that but make sure the door is locked and closed
  2. After it's hooked up in the right area make sure everyone that could catch you playing is away, asleep, or very busy with something else.
  3. If your parents are gone and they gave you a specific time then consider yourself lucky. Take it as a blessing from your parents.
  4. When you're playing stop often to see if anyone is there.
  5. Make sure all siblings are bribed to not tell your parents on you.
  6. If you want to play a portable game system, then do it in the bathroom, if you really want to.
  7. If you're about to go to sleep, just play your DS/PSP/3DS or a PS vita under your blanket.

Alone Method

  1. When your parents are asleep or not home, you can play on the computer while they are gone.
  2. Open up the computer and play your games.
  3. If you hear your parents wake up/come home IMMEDIATELY turn off the computer, rush up to them and stall them with questions. Don`t be overly suspicious!

School Project Method

  1. This method is easier, especially if you have siblings!
  2. Tell your mom/dad that you need to use the computer for schoolwork. They usually let you on for this.
  3. Open up 2 or more tabs or webpages and play the stuff you want, but make sure at least 1 of the tabs or webpages are school-related stuff.
  4. If you hear a parent coming, close everything except the school-related page(s) so it appears you are doing research for a project or something like that.
  5. When they leave, open up the other webpages and keep playing.
  6. If parents ask to see your "project", say "I`ll show it to you after it`s graded"
  7. After a while say, "I was trying to take my graded project home but (say something like a dog chewed it, it flew out the bus window)
  8. However, taking it this far can be suspicious. if your school posts your grades online, ask to go on to see your grades. This is much easier because you don`t have to do any "work" and it involves less lying!

Tips

  • Don't play Guitar Hero or Rock Band games. The clicking of the guitar controller, the sound of the drum pads, and you singing can be noisy.
  • Also have excuses handy; make sure they are really good, so your parents give you a less harsh punishment if caught.
  • If all else fails go to a close friends house and play there. Make sure your parents don't know that you go to a close friends house to play video games.
  • If you have no non-used rooms sneak down late at night when everyone is sleeping or at work/school.
  • If you are home alone, make sure all garage doors are shut. While playing listen for the distinct sound of the garage opening. When you hear it, quickly turn the game off and pick up a book as a decoy.
  • Always turn your volume down low before starting your game.
  • Don't wear a headset/mic, because then you won't hear them coming and your parents can most likely hear you talking to your friends.
  • If your console/game device makes a loud beeping sound once turned on, make some sort of noise as it turns on. (example - cough, but don't get too loud or noisy, they'll think suspiciously of you) Also you could locate the speaker and hold a blanket or cloth over it when it turns on to muffle the sound of the beeping.
  • If you are grounded at the same time as a brother or sister, make a deal not to complain of one another.
  • If your parents are home and are sleeping, mute your game so your parents won't hear anything.

Warnings

  • Never forget to turn off the sound! The worst thing that could happen is you waking up your parents with loud rock music!
  • Never ever let younger brothers/sisters tell on you but don't hit them. That just makes it worse-it can get you in trouble, they might tell both things, they won't keep more secrets, etc.
  • Have a planned excuse like saying you were on Amazon or Netflix.
