Clean Your iPod Earbuds
Have you ever thought those iPod or iPhone earbuds look dirty? It is easy to clean them! Just follow the directions below.
Steps
- Unplug the earbuds from your device.
- Take the cotton ball and wet it with rubbing alcohol.
- Gently rub along the earbuds with the cotton ball.
- Allow them to dry completely before your next use.
Tips
- This is best done with water or rubbing alcohol. Other types of cleaning liquids may damage your earbuds.
- Using a fine bristled toothbrush will get into the tiny holes in the buds and a cotton ball won't. Do NOT wet the toothbrush, as this will damage your earbuds.
- Q-tips work fine as well, but it may take more work to get the earbuds clean because they are smaller.
- To get the crud out of the little holes in the speaker grille you can use one of those small blue squeeze bulbs that are carried by most drug stores. Squeeze it. Then get the tip next to the grille (preferably after loosening the wax using mineral oil and/or other solvents, and then let loose the bulb to suck the wax into it along with the air. Repeat as needed. Be patient. Obviously you will want to rinse the bulb out when done. This works great if you cannot remove the speaker grilles and may make a noticeable difference in sound.
Warnings
- Don't let too much water into your earbuds, as they may not function properly.
- Don't wear your earbuds if they are dirty. You may get an ear infection.
