Create Your Own iPhone Case
Have you been searching for an iPhone case online but just can't find what you want? Maybe it's time to design your own! If you buy a clear case and use a bit of imagination, you can come up with a design that'll be unique and stylish.
Steps
- Think about what you want. First of all, use your imagination and try to get the best of what you want to show off on the iPhone case, because you can actually get a clear case which is available for cheap and just change the designs later on, so that's like all in ONE case with most of your imagination. The clear cases are cheap and affordable, but you could still get anything you like, as long as it's clear.
- Plan your design. It's actually not very hard. Even if your drawing skills are minimal, you can use Photoshop to design a nice texture, or put together a design with some geometric shapes in contradicting colors.
- Measure your phone. Trace around your phone with a pencil on a piece of paper. Cut it off to have a backup size of the phone on paper.
- Cut the design elements and adjust them on the paper. Make sure the better designs are not at the edges. Cutting off important design part may lead to an awkward look.
- Use some design templates (which you can find online) as a basis, and mix them. You can use Photoshop to redesign most of it and print it according to the exact size of the iPhone case cutting.
- For example, you can edit a dot pattern via Photoshop and print it from a color laser printer using a high quality laser paper. You can actually design anything you want by hand, make cut outs and glue them to the paper.
- Add details by hand. This is not the end, the markers and glitter pens can add a lot of contrast to this good-looking design. They will make it look even more customized, rather than store-bought. Use scrapbook cuttings and other stickers too.
- Cut and paste. Carefully use a knife or scissors and cut around the pencil lines but be careful, because you may need to trim the paper in case the size has minor arrangements to be made. It's best to cut a bit larger than the outline so you have room to play with.
- Most importantly, don't forget the keyholes, port holes, or camera, or you'll have to use the iPhone without those.
- Use the case as a template. Cut out the parts of the keys, port and camera neatly. Be careful and patient because these are tricky parts.
- Glue everything in place. A spray adhesive will work; lightly coat the front of the pattern. This all has to be done in a well ventilated room because the spray is toxic and we don't want mishaps in this small experiment.
- Let it dry. Let the design and cover sit for 24-48 hrs before you decide to snap it on and show it off. You really don't want anything going wrong if it's not dry!
