Create a Rubber Band Bracelet

Get creative with an ordinary item of stationery – find a wide rubber band and turn it into a bracelet.

Steps

  1. Get the appropriate size rubber band. Find a very large rubber band, but make sure it will fit your wrist. If you do not have any available in the house, then buy some the next time you or your parents go shopping.
  2. Color it. Use a light colored permanent marker and color the rubber band. Use a light color because you are going to use other colors on top, to decorate it. This can be a little messy, so do this on a paper towel, or on a work surface where stains are not a problem.
  3. Decorate it. Decorate it any way you want, with all the same colors, or different colors. Make polka dots, hearts, triangles, stars, peace signs, flowers, circles, diamonds, zig-zags, or create your own design.
  4. Wear it. Place it on your wrist, and show your friends.
  5. Make sure you don't stretch it too much or it will snap. If it snaps you can never use it again.
  6. You could also glue sequins or beads on your bracelet. Be creative! Consider a ribbon in and out pattern then cut to make sure it is the same size as the rubber bracelet and finally attach with glue. You can look great as long as you don't overdo it!
  7. Finished.

  4. Add another rubber band and pull the bottom 2 sides up over the following 2 bands.
