Draw Calla Lillies
The calla lily is a simple, delicate flower that many florists use for weddings. This tutorial will show you in simple steps how to draw this beautiful flower.
Steps
- Draw a shape that's sort of like a teardrop, but with both ends round. Place it diagonally, with the flatter side on the left and the arc going down and to the right.
- Draw two lines on the teardrop shape, one long and one short. They should meet one another at the location seen here, nearly in the center of the lily.
- Outline the shape of the flower over the sketch. Carefully erase the sketch once you've created the several curving, overlapping lines necessary, as well as the tapered tip.
- Draw a long stem under the flower. Make it thin, smooth, and fairly straight, trailing off without a definite end.
- Add color. Use only light shades of blue for the flower and light green for the stem (see illustration for reference).
Tips
- Draw lightly in pencil so that you can easily rub out mistakes.
- For even more realism, add in the "spike" in the middle.
