Draw a Small Map
Ever need a map to know how to get somewhere quickly(example: neighbor's baseball game)? If you can't afford a more detailed map, you can draw your own. Once you catch on, you can even draw a whole town.
Steps
- Choose two different places, like your house and the ball park. It's simple if you don't have to go out of town to reach your destination.
- Draw streets on a piece of paper, more streets if you need to show intersections you will be passing.
- Draw your house, or starting point, on the correct street.
- Draw your ending point, once you know exactly where it is.
- Draw just a few landmarks, like houses, libraries, or other buildings exactly where they are.
Tips
- You may wish to include street names (particularly the cross streets before and after the destination so that your reader will know when he is near/has gone too far).
- To know where the streets are, get a scooter and go around your town on it.
- Try to mind your relative distances. Make sure that something far away from another thing in real life are far away from each other on the map.
- Indicate which streets have sidewalks so that you will know how to walk safely.
- Make sure that your map is very very colorful and neat.
Things You'll Need
- Scooter
- Paper and markers or pencil or pen
- Cell phone
- Permission from parent (mostly needed for children)
