Find Another Job

There are many jobs in which an employee may not strike it off with an employer or where a person simply cannot perform a job due to certain circumstances. No matter what the reason you need to feel happy in a job and if you don't it's time to start searching for a new one.

Steps

  1. Go over a list of reasons why you want to quit this job. Can it be fixed? If you are simply not happy or cannot perform then maybe it's time to resign. However, if you are not getting along well with a boss or your co-workers then it perhaps could be solved by attending training sessions or being more social.
  2. Before even looking for a new job make sure your resume and cover letters are in tip-top shape. Having a professional looking resume with some solid experience is very crucial and helps to sell yourself to the employer.
  3. Search for various jobs on the computer, through references, and in the newspapers. Apply to several different jobs and complete any other paperwork that is required for the application. Always submit a resume.
  4. Be aware that the interview process or making any decision may not be the next step. Many jobs in modern times now require a background check and possibly a drug check. Lots of employers may conduct both of these first before making a choice about who to interview.
  5. Be patient! For many jobs it can take as much as up to six weeks to know if you have been selected as a candidate for an interview and a chance at getting that new job!

Tips

  • When editing your resume be sure to get various opinions. The way your formatting looks is almost as important as the experience you have had.
  • Be aware it almost always takes up to six months or more to find a new job even with a college degree. This is why it is important to apply for several different jobs instead of just one. Remember you may have to step out of your comfort zone.
  • Always provide two week notice to your current employer before resigning from a job. There is a much better chance you will get a good reference to your future employers should you follow this practice.

Warnings

  • Employers are very strict about who is hired and who is not. Be aware if you have certain drugs like heroin found in your system during the drug test, or extensive run-ins with the law such as felony endangerment you may not get the job.
