Have a Successful Truck Driving Career

There has been a multitude of press written lately concerning the many scams of the trucking industry. With the economy going in a downward direction, more and more people are being directed into trucking. This has opened the door to a huge market for those who would aspire to making a profit off of those already hurting and desperate. Now more than ever one must make sure that they investigate the credibility of schools and companies and consulting before committing themselves to ANYTHING.

Steps

  1. Investigate the person, company or school you are trusting on Google by doing a search. For example: Type in "Alex Powell" and see if he has been in trouble with the law, what sites he has joined...
  2. Look into the company.
  3. Get on the Trucking Forums and Ask Questions about trucking.
  4. Go to Truck Stops and Talk to Drivers.
  5. Make sure that there is a phone number on a website that you are looking at for advice. Is there a pic of the person?
  6. Only go to accredited schools.
  7. Get promises in writing. An example would be, the school would promise a job.

Warnings

  • You will be expected to work over 100 hours and get paid for 70. Lots of unpaid time waiting at the dock for reload or unload.
  • Expect to spend up to a month away from home.
