Install Reflective Tape
Reflective tape can be difficult to install. These reflective tapes come in a variety of formulas.
Steps
- Reflective tape can be damaged if stretched excessively. To avoid stretching when applying reflective tape such as reflective tape on a car, truck or tractor trailer, it is a good idea to apply a solution of 1 cup of water and 8 or so drops of Palmolive. This solution is used to keep the reflective tape from bonding too quickly to the object thereby enabling you to pull the reflective tape up and off for repositioning.
- Reflective tape comes in several varieties. The best grade is made from Engineer Vinyl tapes. There are several places to purchase reflective tapes both locally and on the internet.
- When installing reflective tape, be sure the object is very clean and free of any kind of dirt, grease, dirt or grime.
Tips
- Make sure your hands are clean as to not damage the adhesive on the reflective tape.
Warnings
- If installing reflective tape in a safety application, try to pay attention to the angle of car or other headlights that you wish to get a retro-reflection. Choose unusual colors to get attention.
The use of any liquid to aid in applying reflective vinyl, should only be used on flat or slightly curved surfaces. If you are applying of rivets or seams the material will not stick properly.
