Jump a Dirt Bike over a Double

In this article, you will learn how to jump a dirt bike.

Steps

  1. Find a jump suitable for your ability.
  2. Ride over the jump a few times and/or jump off the side to see how much distance you need.
  3. Get enough speed to land on the landing.
  4. Get into a jumping position about {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} away. Your feet should be tight on the foot pegs and in a crouching position with the front of your body towards the handle bars.
  5. Hold your knees tight to the gas tank before leaving the ground. This is to avoid your body from getting thrown forward or backward.
  6. Shift your weight backward when you hit the lip of the ramp. Give the bike a little short acceleration to help lift you off. Don't lean back too much when going up the ramp or you will flip the bike.
  7. Shift your weight forward while in mid-flight to help yourself level out. While in the air, put your weight in the center of the bike to help keep the bike flat.
  8. Adjust the bike by using your weight and body. Land with the rear tire touching just before the front to absorb the impact some.
  9. Always keep an eye on the landing.
  10. Make sure you land yourself leveled to the ground to avoid losing speed.
  11. Give it a little bit of gas, so you don't get stuck while landing.
  12. Hit it again. Do it a lot until you get the hang of it.

Tips

  • Don't fall.
  • Do not try to do any thing you can not do yet to avoid getting hurt
  • Do not let the bike over power you
  • Try to make it so you are accelerating into the jump; it helps make a better jump and landing.
  • Always ride with a helmet!
  • Don't freak out.
  • Do not hit a jump too small or big for your ability.
  • If you find yourself coming up short, try leaning back a little to bring the front end up and try landing on your back tire.
  • Try a trick only when you are experienced.

Warnings

  • Do not try tricks if you're a beginner
  • You can get seriously injured.
  • Do not do this on another person's dirt bike.
  • Let off the gas a little when going off the jump then give it gas before you land. not too much though. If you don't give it gas before you land you might crash. Don't be too dumb.
