Make Gluten Free Waffles
Waffles are great as a sweet or savory breakfast in the morning. Unfortunately, a lot of people cannot indulge in them due to food allergies such as intolerance to gluten. However, this delicious recipe provides one gluten-free way to enjoy waffles.
Makes 5 waffles
Ingredients
- 2 cups gluten-free all-purpose (plain) flour
- 2 tbsp sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda (bicarbonate of soda)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 3/4 cup milk
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
Steps
- In a large mixing bowl, combine all the ingredients. Beat well until thoroughly blended and smooth. Let the batter sit for 5 minutes.
- Preheat the waffle iron or maker according to its instructions.
- When the iron is hot, spray the waffle iron with cooking spray.
- Pour a generous amount of batter onto the waffle iron and bake until steaming stops.
- Remove the waffle when done. Repeat with the remaining batter until all the batter is used.
- Waffles can be kept warm in a stack on a plate in a low heat oven if needed.
- Enjoy, served with your favorite topping. Toppings can include whipped cream, sour cream, jam, syrup or freshly squeezed lemon juice with a sprinkling of sugar.
Tips
- You can use fruit, chocolate, meats, cheeses, eggs, vegetables, or peanut butter in your batter for a different type of waffle. Experiment to see what works best.
