Make Islam Part of Your Life

Islam is a religion of forgiveness, peace, love and honor to all mankind.

Steps

  1. Know that there is one God, whom you should obey.
  2. Know that Muhammad [PBUH] is the messenger of God. He is the one who passed on the words of God so that you will know His orders.
  3. Pray five times daily. It is prohibited for somebody to miss it unless there is a valid reason. Try to establish them into your daily routine step by step. For example, try to set your alarm clock so you can wake up before sunrise or go to bed early to pray during Fajr (prayer before sunrise). For the Muslim men, attend the weekly Friday prayers.
  4. Make-the-Most-out-of-Ramadhan during the month of Ramadan. It is also the month of forgiveness.
  5. Volunteer yourself to do charity (Zakat). Volunteer yourself in your nearest mosque. If you truly want to make Islam a part of your life, start to become active at your local Mosque. Help out with any volunteer work you can. The more you help and strive to do your best for the sake of Allah, the more you will start to see a change in yourself for the better.
  6. Perform hajj. go to Makkah, in Saudi Arabia and perform hajj. It'll make you aware of Allah 's greatness.
  7. Follow the Sunnah Rasul to do anything in your life.

Tips

  • Recite the Quran and strive to understand its true meaning. If you don’t know Arabic, learn it, but meanwhile, there are many free Quran translations available in most languages.
  • When in doubt about something, ask. Don't be scared to ask your local Imam (Head of Mosque), they are there to help.
  • Start with yourself, and don't think that if everybody else is doing something wrong, you can do it as well.
  • Make yourself a model everybody would want to follow/admire.
  • Remember, Once you are habituated to something it's no more difficult.
  • Take things step by step. Make a list of Dos (daily prayers, being kind with others, etc) and Don'ts (hurting others, being hypocritical, etc) from the teachings of Quran and the life of Prophet Mohammed. Start working on these, when you get habituated with some of these add some more teachings to your life.
  • Before going to bed, list down what acts you performed during your day in the way of Islam. You can make such lists and revisit them to find common actions that have become your habit and you would be able to know which good habits of Islam's teachings have become part of your Life.
