Mexican white cheese sauce is not only delicious, but also a versatile sauce that you can use on tortillas, chips, or any of your favorite Mexican dishes. To make it, all you need is some butter, Jack cheese, sour cream, and diced green chilies -- along with a healthy appetite.
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 3 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 1 cup sour cream
- 2 (4 ounce) cans diced green chilies, drained
Steps
- Heat a medium sized sauce-pan over medium heat and melt the butter.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and stir in shredded cheese until melted.
- Mix in sour cream and green chilies and cook. Stir the mixture occasionally just until heated thoroughly. Make sure it doesn't simmer or boil. You want to just heat it on low heat.
- Stir constantly until all cheese is melted.
- Serve hot in your favourite dish or with tortilla chips.
Tips
- If your sauce ends up being a little thicker than you would prefer, add in a couple tablespoons on milk and stir until you have reached your desired consistency.
Warnings
- The sauce can bubble and pop if turned on too high of heat. This can cause serious burns if not taken with caution.
